SOUTH AFRICAN GRAFFITI MAGAZINE
About Us
Roadkill is the first full colour graffiti magazine to have gone completely national. Where some street culture magazines strive to emulate this controversial medium, we strive to innovate it. We are completely dedicated to bringing you the best underground talent that South Africa has to offer, without hiding behind conventional rules or regulations. We do not promote vandalism, but at the same time we are unapologetic in our approach to covering an art form that for too long has been misinterpreted and misunderstood.
This magazine is for writers by writers and will only be in existence as long as the battle for freedom of expression still burns in the minds and fingertips of South Africas most dedicated artists.
The magazine is a mix of every major city in South Africa. We receive all photographic entries anonymously to prevent anyone being harassed for doing something that in essence harms nobody. We look for support from those that are willing to put themselves in the struggle and from those that believe in it.

Issue 1
(page through the sampled magazine )
The Idea dawned on a small group of us writers, that South Africa hadnt had a decent graffiti magazine since the days of The Juice. We all had the skills to get one off the ground with our expertise in the area of graphic design. So began a love hate relationship with our dream of getting one on the shelves in SA.
It essentially started out as a once off attempt at getting some good quality pictures into the hands of the graffiti community without them having to sit in front of a computer and read a million lame comments that had nothing to do with the actual work on show.
The first issue was produced in little over one week with 3 designers and a lot of photo contributions from all over South Africa.
This left us with an audience asking for more
(see ISSUE 2 for how the saga continues)
Issue 2 (the swine flu issue)
Issue two truly was a true labor of love. Its release coincided with the whole swine flu scare, so we jumped on the band wagon and used the fear of the massive pork disease to make a unique magazine cover. Needles to say we received mixed reviews.
The magazine went through a complete overhaul; we really were trying to take what we started to the next level and revamped the logo as well as giving the page layouts a complete spit and polish. we even added a new comic section for the collectors.
We really went out of our way to secure financial backing and we really want to thank everyone that assisted.
We sent this issue all over South Africa and to a few overseas scenes, most notably the UK and USA. This issue really set itself apart from anything else next to it on the shelf.
We still have some copies available in our store rooms. Email us and we can sort something out!

Issue 3
If Issue 2 was a roller coaster ride then Issue 3 was like visiting Jurassic Park! Also the new baby coming into one of our lives and one of us going overseas for a year made things a bit tricky.
Nevertheless here we are... Guns blazing, with the 3rd installment of what South Africa has to offer. This Issue is the best to date; we have a lengthy interview with the INFAMOUS TOE . We catch up with the ouensa at 2BOP, Lastly on the interview side, we chatted to PLASTIK before he headed back to Durban and thanks to Fong7 theres a 2nd instalment to the comic BLEEK.
Once again the reason why this Issue is on shelves is because of the support we have had since the start.
